The Result First
On June 30, 2026, I cleared the IQ Capital $50,000 evaluation. Here's the certificate — no cropping, no editing:
Nine trading days. First attempt. Not one daily loss breach, not one trailing drawdown scare. If you've read my March case study, you know that the "zero rule breaches" line is the part I care about most — because for two years, rules are what killed my accounts, not bad trades.
The Setup: How I Actually Trade
I trade NQ and ES. My entire process comes down to two questions, asked before the session starts:
1. Where are the gamma walls? Before the open, I pull the daily plan in PropControl — the GEX levels for ES and NQ, the call wall, the put wall, and the zero-gamma flip. These are the price levels where dealers are forced to hedge, and they act like magnets and walls all day. I don't trade against them. I trade the reactions off them.
2. What is the orderflow doing at those levels? The GEX map tells me where. The orderflow tells me when. When price taps a major gamma level and the tape shows absorption or a clean shift, that's my trade. When it doesn't, I do nothing.
Why the challenge is really a discipline test
Every prop challenge has the same trap. The target feels close, so you push. You take the marginal setup. You size up to "get it done faster." Then one bad afternoon puts you near the trailing drawdown floor, you revenge trade to recover, and the evaluation is over.
The IQ Capital challenge is no different. The profit target is reachable if you trade your edge and don't do anything stupid. The whole game is not doing anything stupid — and that is exactly the part PropControl exists to enforce.
Day by Day
Here's the actual shape of the nine days. Small, controlled, boring — right up until the target printed.
Notice how many flat days are in there. Two full days of doing nothing. In an evaluation, that feels wrong — you want to be "making progress." But the flat days are what kept the account alive. The map didn't hand me a trade, so I didn't take one.
What Kept Me From Blowing It
The strategy got me the green days. But three specific things kept me from turning a red day into a failed challenge — and all three came down to seeing a number before the emotion hit.
Real-time trailing drawdown
The trailing drawdown floor was on my chart at all times. On Day 4 (my only red day), I saw the buffer tightening and simply stopped. Previous me would have taken three more trades trying to get it back. Instead I closed the platform and came back Day 5 with a clear head.
A personal daily loss limit
I set my own daily stop well inside the firm's limit. The daily loss gauge changes color as you approach it. Day 4's loss stayed small because I saw the gauge move before I felt the urge to revenge trade.
Max risk from drawdown room, not balance
PropControl sizes max risk from your actual distance to the floor, not your account balance. As I got close to the target, the room-aware sizing kept me from over-betting the last few trades — the exact spot where most people give the challenge back.
If You're Grinding a Challenge Right Now
Trade the levels, not your feelings. Pull the GEX map before the open. Know your call wall, put wall, and flip. If price isn't at a level with orderflow confirmation, there is no trade. "Being bored" is not a reason to click.
Set a personal daily loss limit inside the firm's. The firm's limit is where they cut you. Your limit should be well before that — and it should be a number you can see on the screen, not a promise you made to yourself at 6am.
Let flat days be flat. The pressure of an evaluation makes doing nothing feel like failing. It's the opposite. Every day you don't breach a rule is a day you're still in the game.

Everything I used to pass this challenge is free in PropControl: the daily GEX plan for ES and NQ, the real-time trailing drawdown and daily loss tracking, the max-risk sizing, and the ATAS / NinjaTrader indicator that drops the live GEX histogram straight onto my chart and auto-syncs every fill into the journal.
I built it because I was tired of losing funded accounts to rules I couldn't see. The IQ Capital challenge is one more data point that it works — the map plus the discipline, in one place, for zero cost.
